This year’s Huxley Essay Prize is on the theme of ‘Independence’.
Girls can interpret the theme in any way they wish to, so long as there is a connection to the theme, and are required to produce a 1000 word discursive essay. The closing date is 31st January.
The Huxley prize is the school’s most prestigious academic award, and it is open to all girls. There are three levels of entry – Junior (First and Second Forms), Intermediate (Third to Fifth Forms) and Senior (Sixth Form).
I would encourage all girls to have a go, whether they consider themselves as ‘academic’ types or not. It’s a superb opportunity to really investigate something in which they are interested, and a very good addition to CV’s and college and university applications.
Winners receive a cup, a prize and, of course, eternal glory.
If girls or parents / carers would like further information or guidance, please don’t hesitate to contact Mr Butler on firstname.lastname@example.org, or drop in and see me.
