Applications for entry to Prior’s Field can be made for girls at age 11 or 13 and in the sixth form. Places for girls at age 12 or 14 also, occasionally, become available.
The admissions process normally begins at least a year prior to entry, with prospective parents and students attending an Open Morning and / or having an individual tour of the school and a meeting with the Head.
Parents who would like their daughter to be considered for a place complete a registration form and are asked to pay a non refundable registration fee. Informal testing for girls at age 11 takes place during the Autumn Term, followed by formal entry examinations for all girls at age 11 to 14 in early January (prior to entry the following September). Further information on the admissions process for entry at age 11 – 14 is available here.
Scholarship Examinations at 11+ and 13+ are taken at the beginning of January and will be offered in conjunction with entrance examination results. Acceptances must be received by the school before the first Monday in March.
Sixth Form applications may be made at any stage. A request for a written reference, together with predicted GCSE grades is made from the applicant’s present school when a registration form is received. An offer may be made based on these predicted grades and reference. Scholarship Examinations take place in the November prior to entry the following September and offers are made in December.
Girls are offered a place following the satisfactory completion of examination papers set by the school and receipt of a written confidential report (including predicted GCSE grades for Sixth Form entry) from the Head of their present school. The Head is entitled to take into account any particular attribute of the girl that suggests she may benefit from the general ethos of the school.
Prior’s Field welcomes applications from pupils of all abilities, including those with very mild learning difficulties. The Head is also entitled to refuse admission to a girl with special educational needs if she feels the school does not have the provision to assist with those needs.
Prior’s Field is a popular, over-subscribed school. If all other factors are equal, when offering places, we take into account the order of registration.
Prior's Field has a policy of encouraging applications from any pupil who would benefit from a place at the school. As part of widening access, bursaries are available at all points of entry and may be up to 100% fees. In addition, there is funding available for bursarial help where parents have experienced unforeseen financial hardship. Means-tested application forms are available from the Bursar.
Means-tested bursaries are available for day girls in the Sixth Form. These can be up to 95% fees.
Pupils who have a parent serving in the armed forces are eligible for a 10% discount on the fees. Serving personnel should be aware that they can apply for MOD and foreign office boarding school allowance under certain criteria. This currently allows for a total of £5,621 against boarding fees.
A 10% reduction in fees is offered to the daughter of an old girl. Girls who are daughters of Old Girls are, where possible, given priority on entry.
A 10% reduction in fees is offered to the elder daughter(s), whilst at least three siblings are at Prior's Field at the same time. Girls who have sisters at the school are, where possible, given priority on entry.
To register your daughter for a place at Prior's Field please complete and return the registration form. A copy can be found in the back of your prospectus or is downloadable here.
