We're delighted you're considering Prior's Field. Applications for entry to the school can be made for girls at age 11+, 13+ and for the sixth form. 12+ and 14+ places may be offered at any time, subject to availability.
The admissions process normally begins at least a year prior to entry, with prospective parents and students attending an Open Morning and / or having an individual tour of the school and a meeting with the Head.
Parents who would like their daughter to be considered for a place complete a registration form and are asked to pay a non refundable registration fee. Informal testing for girls at age 11+ takes place during the Autumn Term, followed by formal entry examinations for all girls at age 11 to 14 in early January (prior to entry the following September). Further information on the admissions process for entry at age 11 – 14 is available here.
Scholarship Examinations at 11+ and 13+ are taken at the beginning of January and will be offered in conjunction with entrance examination results. Acceptances must be received by the school before the first Monday in March.
Sixth Form applications may be made at any stage. A request for a written reference, together with predicted GCSE or IGCSE grades is made from the applicant’s present school when a registration form is received. An offer may be made based on these predicted grades and reference. Scholarship Examinations take place in the November prior to entry the following September and offers are made in December. The basic entry requirements for the Sixth Form is six GCSEs or equivalent, including Maths and English Language, with at least B grades in the chosen A Level subjects.
Applicants are offered a place following the satisfactory completion of the school's own entrance examination papers and receipt of a written confidential reference and recent report from the applicant's current school. The Head is also entitled to take into account any particular attribute that suggests a candidate may benefit from a Prior's Field education.
Prior’s Field welcomes applications from pupils of all abilities, including those with very mild learning difficulties. The Head is also entitled to refuse admission to a girl with special educational needs if she feels the school does not have the provision to assist with those needs. The School has limited facilities for disabled pupils but will do all that is reasonable to comply with its legal and moral responsibilities under the Disability Discrimnation Act 1995, the Special Eductional Needs and Disability Act 2001, and the Equality Act 2010.
Prior’s Field is a popular, over-subscribed school. If all other factors are equal, when offering places, we take into account the order of registration.
Prior's Field has a policy of encouraging applications from any pupil who would benefit from a place at the school regardless of their financial situation. As part of widening access, means-tested bursaries are available at all points of entry and may be up to 100% fees. In addition, there is limited funding available for bursarial help where parents have experienced unforeseen financial hardship. Bursary awards are subject to repeat testing of parental means each year and may be varied upwards or downwards, depending on parental circumstances. Initial applications should be made through the school Registrar.
Prior's Field offers means-tested Sixth Form Academic Bursaries for day places. These may be up to 100% fees.
Pupils who have a parent serving in the armed forces are eligible for a 10% discount on the fees (20% for 2013 entry onwards). Serving personnel should be aware that they can apply for MOD and foreign office boarding school allowance under certain criteria. This currently allows for a total of £6,074 against boarding fees.

"Our daughter became far more self reliant, organised and conscious of time management. She effectively scheduled her prep, making sure that she worked at lunchtime if she knew she had a busy evening. We had very few prep angst episodes. Each day at PF was a full day, with not a moment wasted, but with no undue or unacceptable pressures exerted on the girls."
