It is important that as well as supporting the girls with their academic progress we help them to recognise the importance of ‘down time’ and offer opportunities to develop other skills, learn to relax and have fun.
With this in mind we offer evenings activities across the age groups.
These change on a termly basis. Art club, Dance club, Zumba classes, board games, rounders games, fun tennis tournaments, Wii championships, swimming are a few examples.
Twice a year the house staff will arrange to take each year group out of school during the week. The boarders help plan this and guide the choice of activity. Recently they have chosen Airhop, going out for afternoon tea, visiting the cinema and bowling. This gives both boarders and staff time to talk away from school and have some well-deserved fun together.
We offer a full programme of weekend activities for the girls, whilst also recognising the need for less structured time and a chance to relax. The girls enjoy time on Friday evenings to watch DVDs and will often be found making popcorn or eating ice cream - everyone is allowed a treat! Sometimes there is a minibus trip to the local supermarket which gives full boarders an opportunity to stock up on the essentials on other occasions the school swimming pool is opened up for the girls to use.
On Saturdays and Sundays the girls enjoy a relaxed, later breakfast followed by an afternoon activity on Saturday and usually a full day out on Sunday.
