A Surrey Boarding & Day School for Girls aged 11–18

School Council

The school council meets approximately once a month with Mrs Roseblade, the head. It is chaired by the Head Girl. It is a pupil committee and each class has one member on the school council. The council meets to discuss issues affecting the girls and to make decisions on some items, such as changing the tuck shop into Fair Trade only (we did that this January), deciding on new sports tops for the house matches (we’ve done that too – they look great), deciding on what stationery the school shop will sell, deciding to celebrate World Environment Day by having a blackout no electricity day. (We’ve just done that one as well.)

Members of the council each have a badge which they wear as part of their uniform. As well as the Head girl or Deputy Head girl chairing the meeting, Mrs Roseblade or Mrs Lunnon also attend each meeting.

Classes vote for who their class representative is going to be. Each member holds this position for one year and it’s a really important post because it does mean that you get a say on things that happen in the school.
