A Surrey Boarding & Day School for Girls aged 11–18

Your Form Tutor and how to use her (or him!)

My Form teacher is really friendly. I see her at registrations (that’s every morning at 8.15 and every afternoon at 2.10) and at Form Time (that’s every Tuesday and Thursday morning) and during P.S.H.C.E.  (Personal, Social, Health and Citizenship Education – which happens in one period a week).

In P.S.H.C.E. we have circle times and talk about friendship. But we also cover a lot of other things, including health issues – which the school nurse does with us (we had a lot of fun putting bandages on each other). Sometimes, the prefects and Sixth Form help out with P.S.H.C.E. discussions too, as well as outside speakers.

Also, our Form Tutor checks if we’ve got everything for our lessons. At the beginning of the year I thought I only needed about two or three files, but I actually needed one for each subject. (There are a fair few subjects!).

Your Form Tutor is also a really good person to talk to if you have a worry or you are concerned about anything. She (or he) can help to sort it out quickly. We also have a listening tree up in every classroom, which shows all the people in the school who are there for you, if you have any problems.

Overall I think it is really good at Prior’s Field because it is fun in lessons and people check on you and people care for you.
