Over recent years the school has been delighted to welcome a number of authors and personalities to talk to parents, students and the local community. We’ve welcomed Michael Palin, Joanna Trollope, Alison Weir, Private Johnson Beharry VC and Mavis Cheek.
As part of this series, in 2008 we launched the Julia Huxley Annual Memorial Lecture to commemorate the founder of Prior's Field. Professor Germaine Greer gave the inaugural lecture on Shakespeare’s Wife which is also the title of her new book. In 2009, we welcomed George Alagiah, writer and BBC broadcaster and, also in December 2010 we were treated to a fascinating lecture by Adam Hart-Davis. In 2012, Poet Laureate Carol Ann Duffy enthralled her audience with a poetry reading.
November 2009 saw the launch of our one day literary festival which combined with the annual Christmas Fair. Writers Wendy Cope, Kate Williams and Mary Hooper joined us for the day.
Since then, the school has been busy with visits from Tom Avery, Rob Lilwall, Kate Williams, Dr Tim Benson and Anne Berry.
