Many institutions rely on the support of their friends for long-term development. Friends of Prior's Field aims to strengthen the partnership between the school and its wider community, by keeping in touch with former parents, staff, governors and other close associates. It does this through occasional communications, sharing school news and stories and by welcoming Friends to specific school events.
Friends can play an inspirational role, sharing their experience and expertise with current pupils. For example, ITN Editor-in-Chief David Mannion visited to talk to girls about the media industry, Dr Bonnie Dunbar, former NASA astronaut, came over from the U.S. and gave a unique insight into the world of space flight and Dr Ian Hamerton, Vice Chairman of the Society for the Arts and Crafts Movement in Surrey and President of the C.F.A. Voysey Society, attended an Old Girls' Day to talk on Voysey, the architect who designed Prior's Garth, the original house which was to become Prior's Field School.
In return for such support, the school - as well as inviting its Friends to events - provides a platform on which individuals and local businesses can raise their profile and supports a variety of charities.
