Community Liaison

At Prior's Field we constantly aim to strengthen our links with the community. Our facilities are available for public hire and are used for various purposes from pilates and badminton to wedding shows. Educational conferences and meetings, Summer and Easter lets by groups such as National Youth Musical Theatre and European Schools, are regular events.

We have an ongoing link with some local charities and the school is available for their use. Our contemporary Sports Hall and newly refurbished Dramatic Arts centre are frequently used to host events by groups in Godalming, such as The Rotary Godalming Festival and functions hosted by the Mayor of Godalming. Educationally, we are forging links with local primary schools, offering master classes in core subjects such as English and Mathematics and offering our facilities and teaching expertise in Science.

As members of The Rotary Club's Youth Interact, students have teamed up with a local state school to devise activities in the community.

More recently, visits to Robertson's Care Home have been valuable, enjoyable experiences.

A recent overseas project involved filling bags with clothes and toys to send to schools in Sierra Leone.

Prior's Field is also working closely with local junior and secondary schools, to share resources and activities. Schools in the area are regularly invited to Sixth Form lectures and events.

Over the last couple of years, the school has run a series of cultural events, involving high-profile speakers. These evenings have been open to members of the wider public, who have joined with us to enjoy talks by Johnson Beharry VC; Professor Germain Greer; Michael Palin; Joanna Trollope; George Alagiah, Adam Hart-Davies and Poet Laureate, Carol Ann Duffy.

Prior's Field has a strong literary heritage and these events continue the tradition; George Bernard Shaw, Sir Arthur Conan Doyle and of course Aldous Huxley, were important writers who knew the school well.
