It was a scene more reminiscent of the January sales as the doors were flung open and the 'customers' bustled in! What was happening, one might ask! The Sports Hall at Prior's Field School had morphed into a series of shopping malls with people earnestly seeking out information, guidance and advice on a variety of careers. Young and old from the wider community including members of the general public, state and independent schools came to be inspired by a more than 45 professionals happy to talk about their own careers. There was something for everybody be it a career in health sciences, creative arts, the business world or the Forces.
This was a 'first' for Prior's Field School to mount a Careers Fair on this scale. It was truly fascinating to stand back, listen and observe. What could be more satisfying than to witness a young person's moment of self realisation that they finally knew what career path they would follow?
A number of GAP organisations played their part too, demonstrating that 'everything is possible' in a transition year or even at the end of one's career! Is there anyone for snowboarding, charity work, or conservation work overseas?!
Planning for your future can be fun, you just need a little help along the way.
