Trips

Trips and visits are an important part of a Prior's Field education. When the school was founded in 1902, Julia Huxley regularly took her pupils into London for the galleries and to see plays. They also went to visit famous artists and writers, such as WB Yeats, who were well-known to the Huxley family. Her vision was to encourage the young people in her care to have wide experiences and to look 'outwards'.

We continue this tradition today, with over 100 trips and visits running in 2008-2009. These activities extend and enhance classroom learning and develop our students' cultural hinterlands. Some are residential, others may be day-trips to museums, galleries, zoos, or for local field work.
