Achieving this Week – Friday 26 January 2018

Many congratulations to Sixth Former, Lauren, who gave committed, dynamic and truthful performances as both Paulina from Shakespeare’s “Winter’s Tale” and Marlene from Caryl Churchill’s “Top Girls” in her performance A level exam on Monday. She was ably supported by fellow Sixth Former Katie, who generously gave her time to learn the part of Angie as a non-assessed candidate. There was a tangible sense of the audience focus and involvement which is a credit to the girls. Well done also to the audience who withstood the intense heat of the Drama studio in good humour!

In Friday’s assembly Miss Wallis previewed a documentary by Sixth Former Holly which received a spontaneous round of applause from the rest of the girls. Holly produced a film for the Art History documentary competition called SPoKE. The competition encourages young people to think critically about art through the medium of film. Holly produced a film inspired by a recent exhibition she visited at Tate Modern entitled “Not Everyone Will Be Taken to the Future” by installation artists Ilya and Emilia Kabakov. Holly’s film is a fantastic example of how her knowledge of History of Art has inspired her own creative process when making her own art for A Level Photography. Congratulations Holly for inspiring the school with this excellent piece of work.

Frank Fourth Formers were clearly inspired by a visit from Shooting Stars Chase’s Georgina in Tuesday’s House Assembly. Today they raised a massive £150.26 through a cake sale and have set the bar very high for the other year groups. Congratulations on your fabulous food fundraiser Frank Fourth Formers!!
