Co-Curricular Calling Friday 9 March
Fourth Form Social
Fourth Formers gathered in the Dining Hall on Tuesday to be given a masterclass on how to create a ‘stiletto cake’ by Head Chef, Ricky. They were shown how to cut the waffles properly, coat them with chocolate, pipe buttercream and how to put it all together to create a work of art in the shape of a high heel shoe! Under Ricky’s expert supervision the girls created some artistic and scrumptious creations!
On Wednesday we welcomed nine prep schools to compete in our annual Gymnastics Festival. It was an absolute delight to seeing so many girls having fun and trying hard, there was so much talent on display. We’d like to thank all the schools that took part in this fantastic event.
Mrs Morwood reports ‘On Tuesday we held a ‘friendly’ debate with Ibstock Place School for our very enthusiastic Third Formers who have missed out this year on the external competition and were ready for the cut and thrust of argument and rebuttal. Our two teams had really good fun, and the prepared debate, about the sale of human organs, was well researched and argued by both sides. The event reached an exciting climax when the unprepared motion was announced ‘This house would arm teachers in the US’. This was certainly a most energising and freshly debated motion and the Points of Information were flying across the table. The Sixth Form judges were exceptional and gave great feedback to all the teams. Thanks to our Sixth Form time keepers and our First Former Sophie who stepped in to make up our two teams. By hosting the event we are putting PF on the debating map, and keeping our reputation for superb food (which catering once again provided for us, including the hot chocolate which ensured the second round was given an extra kick!)’
On Thursday evening, our junior teams took part in the London Junior Debating League. All our teams did a superb job and narrowly missed the top spot. Mrs Morwood reports ‘This has been so much fun for all of us involved in the Debating Society and a big thanks to all the Sixth Form and staff who have helped in so many ways and of course to the girls themselves who have been brilliant throughout this league competition. A big thank you to Mrs Buckley who volunteered to accompany us at the eleventh hour and made this trip possible.’
First Form PHSEE
Mrs Baines, Head of First Form reports ‘Over the past few months, the First Form have been visiting local Nursing homes to visit the elderly. The girls spent their time talking to the residents and performing musical numbers. All Prior’s Field girls were fantastic ambassadors to the school.’
