Looking Ahead – House Competitions, Sixth Form Lecture, Careers Talks plus more
House Music Finals
On Wednesday 7 February the Assembly Hall will be jammed with melody and soul as the girls battle it out in the House Music final. Will last year’s winner Frank be victorious again? Come and support your House, all of the Priors Field Community are welcome! Doors open at 6:00pm for a 6:30pm start with a cash bar available, the running order for the performances will be Austen, Frank and Pankhurst. The winner will be announced after Half Term.
The House Drama and House Choir
Continuing with the theme of House competitions, next week will be a hive of creative activity, House Drama takes place on Monday within the school timetable and on Wednesday, during the school day, House Choir will be filling the corridor with heavenly voices. Winners will be announced in due course!
Sixth Form Lecture – Special Investigations
On Monday 5 February we look forward to welcoming Louise Brittain to talk about ‘Special Investigations’ as part of our Sixth Form Lecture programme. Louise works for Wilkins Kennedy and leads the Restructuring and Recovery Contentious Investigation and Insolvency team. She specialises in high profile, fraudulent and litigious insolvencies, international asset tracing and civil and criminal recovery cases. She was voted in the “Power 100” 2011 by Insolvency Today and the Accountancy Age top 100 power players in 2014, 2013, 2010 and 2003.
The Careers Department are continuing their series of Careers Talks which take place on Mondays between 4.30 – 5.15pm.
We encourage the girls to attend one or more of the Talks, which can be booked on FROG.
At Home with an Actress – Monday 5 February Lauren O’Neil shares her experience as stage and film actress following her graduation from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
At Home with a SKY News Reporter – Monday 26 February Nick Stylianou is a senior Producer at Sky News, having previously worked at the BBC, ITV News and Channel 4 News. He currently specialises in defence and technology and spent most of 2017 chasing terror attacks and investigating the Grenfell Tower fire.
At Home with a Media Communications Producer for Apple Europe – Monday 19 March Fleur Holcroft will talk about her successful career in advertising and media, including her current role for the Apple Corp in the advertising team.
The Annual Julia Huxley Lecture – ‘Reach for the Stars’ on Tuesday 20 February at 7.30pm

Scientist and broadcaster Dr Maggie Aderin-Pocock, MBE, will share her passion for why women should pursue a career in science and explain how she has become known as the BBC’s ‘Face of Space’.
AppArt’s annual Easter art exhibition and sculpture trail will open on Friday 30 March at Prior’s Field. After exhibiting here at Prior’s Field for a number of years, AppArt’s reputation continues to grow as a showcase for some of the finest artists in the South East. Roger Dellar will open AppArt on Friday 30 March (Good Friday) and will be one of many distinguished artists on view. Roger is a member of several national groups including the “Wapping Group” of which he was recently elected as President.
National artists exhibiting work include sculptor Philip Jackson, Rosa Sepple (President of Painters in Watercolour), Sorya French (President of the Society of Women Artists) and sculptor Marie Ackers. Local artists exhibiting are Christine Thompson, Christopher Cole, Susan Fisher and Ruth Bacmeister.
